How to use the prop firm payout calculator
- Enter the funded account size and the profit you expect in the payout period, in %.
- Enter your profit split (often 80%, sometimes 90% with an add-on) and the challenge fee.
- Tick the box if the firm refunds the fee with the first payout, and add a scaling % if your firm scales accounts.
- Read your share, the firm's share, the first payout, the net after the fee and the payout after scaling.
How a prop firm payout is calculated
- Your share = profit × your profit split. On $8,000 profit at 80% you receive $6,400 and the firm keeps $1,600.
- Fee refund: many firms add the challenge fee back to the first payout, so the first payout is your share + the fee.
- Net = everything you received − the fee you paid. Without a refund, you need profit of fee ÷ split just to cover the fee (a $500 fee at 80% needs $625 of profit).
- Scaling: some firms raise the account size (for example +25%) after a few profitable months; the same % profit then pays more.
Worked example
A $100,000 funded account makes 8% ($8,000) in the payout period at an 80% split, after a $500 challenge fee that is refunded with the first payout.
- Your share: $6,400; first payout with the refund: $6,900; net after the fee: +$6,400.
- After a 25% scale-up to $125,000, the same 8% would pay you $8,000.
- The same month at a 90% split pays $7,200: the split matters more than most add-ons.
Payout rules differ: minimum trading days, payout cycles (14 or 30 days, or on demand), caps on the first payouts, consistency rules and a minimum withdrawal. Read your firm's terms. The prop firm challenge tracker compares four firms' targets, limits and splits from their official pages, and the prop firm drawdown calculator shows how much room is left before a breach.
Before you buy a challenge, check that the method can pass it: risk of ruin with the firm's maximum loss as the ruin level, and how deep a drawdown can go before it ends (drawdown recovery).
